About

The Games and Archaeology Play Workshop will be held on August 10th at the FDG 2026 Conference in Copenhagen!

The aim of this workshop is to bring together interdisciplinary research broadly relating to games and archaeology at a games conference. Video game archaeology, also known as “archaeogaming,” can refer to many things; the study of how archaeology and heritage are represented in games, the development of archaeological games, code archaeology and field studies. We would also like to broaden the archaeological study of games to include discussion on games and play preservation, and archaeological game mechanics.
